Fit City - Take the Challenge!
Since 2005, thousands of people have participated in Fit City programs, and the
movement toward a healthier city continues today! We encourage you to do more
today than you did yesterday. Two examples of this are parking your car further
away from the door to get some extra walking in that day or reading a good book
rather than watching the television all night.
Fit City is an initiative between the City of Valparaiso, the Mayor's Office,
and the Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation.
For more in-depth information on
Fit City programs, visit the Fit City web site.
Fit City programs focus on the four key areas listed below for improvement in
your life.
Mind — Never cease discovering more about yourself or the world
Body — Physically be
the best you can be
Character — Challenge yourself, take a step out of the
ordinary
Community — Take time for your family, engage in social activities
with friends, volunteer your time, or meet someone new
If the registration deadline is past on a particular event, please contact our office
to verify availability or to be put on a waiting list.

Student Summer Challenge
|
|
|
Summer isn’t the time to become a couch potato. Stay active and challenge
yourself! All elementary and middle school students are encouraged to
participate in the student summer challenge that encourages you to stay active
throughout your summer vacation from school. To participate, get a form from your
PE teacher in May or download it from the Valparaiso Parks web site then cross
off each day you are active for at least 60 minutes. Activities can range from
riding bikes, swimming, dancing or playing sports. All forms must be turned into
your PE teacher when you return to school in August.
Each student who participates will receive a prize. Challenge yourself to stay
active and fit this summer!
